A late start and a crash.

I was late leaving Thunder Bay…really late. I got up at 6am intending to pound out the 180 kms to Terrace Bay. However when I was loading the bike I noticed that the front brake wasn’t done up. When I went to do it up I noticed that the brake was broken. Total bummer. I was forced to wait for the bike stores to open before I could leave. I kinda needed the brake.

Anyway the stores ddn’t open until noon so I didn’t get on my way until 1pm! However I was determined to make Nipigon. On the way I stopped at the Terry Fox memorial outlook. Man, whatever trials I am going through, they are small potatoes compared to what he did. He ran a marathon every day! I can’t even imagine that much determination. I wish we could replace some of the people on our money with more up to date heroes.

terryfox.jpg A marathon a day. Terry Fox is definitely a hero. When I consider I could travel three times as far as he did every day my mind shudders at the enormity of his effort. “Bon Courage Terry!”

Anyway I made it late to Nipigon and spent the night camping with the Mozzies and the black flies, debating in my head about which one I hated more.
