Alone again.

Well in the morning Justine and I seperated and I rode alone. It was stupid of me because while Justine doesn’t ride as fast, she is willing to ride a long time. So as it was we ended up in the same place anyway! At Pancake bay we met a Kiwi, Tim, who was going towards Vancouver. We warned him about the hill at Montreal River and he in turn warned us about Blueberry Hill.

Justine and I had planned on meeting for breakfast and I went ahead to the restaurant. The only place was a great place called the voyageur cafe. They had real maple syrup! Believe me, that is important after days of eating French Toast. Also they had neat paintings of coureur des bois and voyageur with stories about famous ones.

I ate breakfast and still there was no Justine. I figured she must have missed seeing my bike and went ahead. I loaded up and pressed on. At the base of Blueberry Hill I stopped for a snack break at a gas station. I found out then, when I asked some motorists if they’d seen her, that she was actually behind me!

I waited for a bit then decided to press on. The idea was to skirt around Sault St. Marie and then make it to the North shore of Lake Huron. Passing through the Soo was easy enough, but on the lake you get some crazy winds. For one stretch it was behind me, for another it would be in my face, and everywhere in between! At Bruce Mines, the small town I was stopping at, I went into a restaurant before searching for the municipal campground. I guess I had pushed a bit too hard because I couldn’t finish my ice cream! I actually got very light headed.

Later when I was setting up my tent I though I was going to passout every time I stood up. I’m not entirely sure what that was all about but I was glad when it stopped! After an hour Justine pulled in. She had pressed on and caught up. I decided that I needed to slow down after that and we travelled together for a few more days after that.

We ate dinner at the Bavarian inn. Which I recommend if anyone is going. The schnitzel was awesome and filling. We ate like two starved wolves, not only having the HUGE dinner special but dessert as well. Mmmmm cheesecake.
