So I started a new project recently called Pour Bears. Essentially it is a drinks site for cocktails. I have always wanted a bar so my friend Will and I started this project. I have loads of liquor in the condo now and essentially we’ve started making drinks. At first it was just for fun and to try different cocktails but as we’ve gotten into it we decided we needed to make a side-hustle out of it. We’ve decided to try some live streaming and some TikTok videos. Will has done the whole short-form, algorithm-driven media before so I’m definitely leaning on his expertise for that. I am taking care of the website, since that is my expertise.
I love the name “Pour bears” because it works on many different levels. The most obvious is “Poor/Pour” right. I discovered “the Pour House” is a very common pub name. But the reason I like the name is that “pour” is French for “for”. The site/streams will be “for bears”. Clever huh?
The site features not only 600+ cocktail recipes but also a glossary including where to find the ingredients, a glasses section to illustrate the different types of glasses, a “The Bear Recipes” section which is a take off of “The Bear Necessities” and features our drink recipes. And then two additional sections “My bar” and “shopping list”. My bar will show you what you can make based on what you have, and then when you are looking at a recipe you can add items to a shopping list.
