Continuing on…

Nicole and I continued South towards the #2 eventually crossing the 401. The land scape had become much flatter and the riding much easier. Not to mention the fact that there was a good shoulder and traffic was much lighter than the 7. Trenton was a strange little town with a bad vibe. At first I thought it was just me until I saw the look on Nicole’s face and I could tell she felt the same as I did. We were eager to get out.

We traveled through Prince Edward County, which I mistakenly called Prince Edward Island. The girl at the info center began to correct me. I was like, “whatever.” If anyone is wondering there is no camping East of Bloomfield in PEC. Although there is a great little bike shop in Bloomfield and the owners kindly offered to let us stay.

However Nic and I were feeling the pressure to keep going to make it to Montreal. We were thinking we could camp closer to the ferry across the Napanee. We were wrong. As a result we rode all the way to Adolphustown. Our longest day. The upside was we saw lightning bugs! They were all over the place. Unfortunately so were the mosquitos.

The next morning we headed out and rode to Brockville. This is the town where my father went to school at a seminary. Personally, I’m glad he didn’t become a priest. Very glad, considering Catholic priests are celibate and don’t get married. That night Nicole and I got a room at a B & B. The owner was very nice and the experience was very reminicent of our trip to England. (owner was English)

Renee was flying in the next morning, and it didn’t look like were within striking distance to Montreal. Thankfully, she had rented an SUV, came to pick us up in Brockville. The three of us drove East into Quebec, ate creton, and enjoyed being together again. That night we stayed in the most crowded campsite I have ever been in. The Quebecois seem to enjoy camping with everything. Many of the sites had semi-permanent structures on them where people had obviously planned on staying for a bit.

The next morning we discovered Chez Coras (a breakfast restaurant with real maple syrup!) and drove into Montreal! In Montreal Zuimei joined us for the weekend and the four of us shopped, and ate, and ran around like kids in a candy store!

And thus ends my trip “across Canada”. I only made it to Montreal. About 3/4 of the way I am guessing. And I have to admit that it is WAY more fun to ride with someone else. I highly recommend it and don’t be surprised if you see this blog get updated in a year or two. I plan on finishing the trip. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures from Montreal!
